Locals attack police station, 13 held in Nayabasti, Bouddha, in Kathmandu

A group of around five dozen people launched an attack at a police station in Nayabasti, Bouddha, in Kathmandu.Police fired tear gas shell to contain the situation and arrested 13 persons in connection

with the attack.They blamed the police for delaying in taking one taxi driver Raj Kumar Lama to the hospital. Lama, 36, was found drunk and unconscious on the roadside on Saturday night and died while being taken to Nepal Medical College Hospital in Attarkhel, Gokarneshowr Municipality.

Locals and relatives of Lama resorted to attack blaming police’s negligence for his death.Metropolitan Police Circle spokesperson SP Pradhumna Karki said the attackers set three private and one police motorcycle on fire. Some of the window panes of the police station have also been broken.Nayabasti police circle assistant sub-inspector Yubaraj Kharel said the situation returned to normalcy.
