Nepali leader C K Raut

C. K. Raut PhD is a Nepali computer engineer, author, who has been actively involved in demanding a separate Madhesh country for the Nepali Madhesi ethnic people among Nepali.[1] He has been under house-arrest by the Government of Nepal since April.

Dr. Raut was born to an indigenous Satar family in Mahadeva Village, in the Saptari district, Sagarmatha Zone of Nepal. He attended primary school in his home village, and secondary school in nearby Katti . He went on to study at Tribhuvan University (Nepal), Tokyo University (Japan) and Cambridge University (UK)..He is a recipient of Young Nepalese Engineer Award, Mahendra Bidhya Bhusan, Kulratna Gold Medal, and Trofimenkoff Academic Achievement Award among others.

Raut is the founding president of the Non-Resident Madhesi Association, a global diaspora organisation of Nepalese people of Madhesi ethnic group living abroad.[5] He is also the founder of the injot movement, a social transformation initiative targeted at Nepal, Ethiopia, and Bangladesh. He was arrested on September 14, 2014 on a charge of causing public disorder while addressing a gathering of the Santhal community. There are several debates regarding the voice of CK Raut for free Madhesh. However, the current scenario of Nepal shows that The hill majority government of Nepal has been making systematic and systemic discrimination against the Madheshi people of Nepal. The development budget of Nepal is mostly allocated and spent in hilly region. The Madheshi dominant region, mostly the southern plain area of Nepal receives less budget. They are falling behind in the socio-economic and human development aspects. The government uses heavy security forces and fires to suppress the Madhesi people’s right demand. In Bethari, a local village market of Rupandehi, district, the security forces opened firing and killd dozens of innocent villagers on 15 Sep 2014
